Before getting to this weeks desktop, there's a couple of things I wanted to remind you about.  First, expect the next update to be on time.   Second, the previous weeks wallpaper is always still available by clicking the preview to the left found on this page.  Enjoy!

Above is this weeks free desktop. Back again to one of the finest parks in America, Yosemite National Park. This park was formed in 1890 to preserve a spectacular portion of the Sierra Nevada which happens to contain staggering waterfalls, lush alpine meadows, giant 1000+ year old sequoias, and some very intriguing formations of rock. This park has inspired poets, painters, visitors and photographers (including your your humble host) by simply showcasing the wonders within it. One of the most popular sections of this park is Yosemite Valley, a glacier-carved canyon which contains some of the most famous formations in the world (El Capitan and Half Dome) along with several truly wonderful waterfalls. There are also many opportunities in this area to gain an elevated perspective of your surroundings from places such as Glacier Point, Taft Point, or Dewey Point on the southern valley rim, or from Columbia Rock on the northern side. This weeks shot, on the other hand, comes from a completely different section of the park known as Tuolumne Meadows which is a beautiful high alpine meadow. The photo was taken September 2005 from the top of Lembert Dome which does require a bit of a hike to get to (4 miles round-trip, 850 ft elevation gain, the last part being a tough scramble up slick rock), but it's well worth the effort as it offers a rather interesting vanatage point of this area as you can see here. Without any doubt, Yosemite is a fantastic experience, one which could easily consume weeks to enjoy all the possibilities. I must say as I do everytime Yosemite is featured (but this applies to any park featured), I do not consider myself to have the expertise to be able to convey the true beauty of this park, such is simply beyond my ability. The most I hope for with my work is to give a brief glimpse of the wonders one can see and inspire you to expand upon this in person. Be sure to check the links section for more info on the Yosemite National Park, and by all means, plan a visit to this treasure.
