Before getting to this weeks desktop, there's a couple of things I wanted to remind you about.  First, expect the next update to be on time.   Second, the previous weeks wallpaper is always still available by clicking the preview to the left found on this page.  Enjoy!

Above is this weeks free desktop. This is one of those rare occasions where there's an opportunity to introduce a place which has not been featured here previously, welcome to Niagara Falls State Park. As one might expect, the main feature found here is the Niagara Falls, but what might not be so obvious is that Niagara Falls is actually comprised of three waterfalls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls located in the US, and Horseshoe Falls which is mainly located in Canada. All three are feed by the Niagara River and separated by islands. The small Luna Island stands between American and Bridal Veil Falls, while the massive Goat Island separates Horseshoe Falls from the other two. It is Horseshoe Falls which is most times pictured when talking of Niagara Falls as it the largest (2600 ft wide compared to American Falls 1060 ft) and also the tallest (173 ft compared to 70-100 ft), plus it's just more dramatic with the curved profile. There are many excellent vantage points to enjoy these wonders close up on the US side and it is a thrill standing next the rim with the massive volume of water rushing over, or experiencing the torrents of water at the base of Bridal Veil Falls on the Cave of the Winds tour, or taking the must do ride on the Maid of the Mist, but if you want to have the most complete views of Niagara Falls, you've got to cross over to Canada's side of the river. This weeks shot was taken in October 2007 near Prospect Point and is of the night lighting of American Falls from the Canadian side. If you look through the mist in the center of the photo, you can just make out part of Horseshoe Falls in the distance. This is one of those places I really think everyone should visit at least once, it is really an amazing place. Check the links section for more info on Niagara Falls State Park and also check out Wikipedia - Niagara Falls for some excellent pictures and info.
