Before getting to this weeks desktop, there's a couple of things I wanted to remind you about.  First, expect the next update on the 24th, right on time.  I think I've got a handle on my other sites and can stay on track with the updates here.  (:   Second, the previous weeks wallpaper is always still available by clicking the preview to the left found on this page.  Enjoy!

Above is this weeks free desktop.  Back this for the second visit to one of the top parks in America, Yellowstone National Park.  Located in northwestern Wyoming, a portion of southwestern Montana, and a small sliver of Idaho, this park offers an amazing glimpse of this planet's most diverse and intact collection of geysers, hot springs, mudpots, and fumaroles.  Even though the geothermal features are the features that most people associate with Yellowstone (and who wouldn't with Old Faithful being here), but there is truly much more to this park.  Vast meadows and forests with an amazing amount of wildlife, a raging river with waterfalls and Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.  Plus, one can find North American's largest mountain lake here, Yellowstone Lake, at 20 miles long, 14 miles wide and 320 feet at its deepest, it is impressive.  Honestly, Yellowstone is huge and it takes a couple of days to just driving to try and see the entire park, not spending much time exploring each section.  Now for this weeks photo, it was taken in August 2006 on one of the trails in the Geyser Basin, I truly do not remember if it's Lower, Midway, or the Biscuit Basin.  What I am sure of here is the composition of the photo.  Walking through the geyser fields can be surreal at times as the mist/steam rising from the hot spots can envelope you and obscure the rest of the world as it is doing here to the landscape in the background.  I know there were several interesting spots on the trail the day we were there.  Yellowstone has a ton of great trails to walk, varying the entire range of distance and difficulty with each rewarding ones participation with different experiences.  If you want a glimpse of what this wonderful park has to offer, plan a couple of days here (if you want to explore, you're going to need a whole lot more (; ).  I believe this park to be well worth planning several days here and you'll leave with memories you'll carry for years.
