Above is this weeks free desktop. This week we move back a place I do enjoy showcasing, Grand Canyon National Park, this time taken from the South Rim. It is no secret, Grand Canyon is one of the top parks in America and when the time comes around to feature a wallpaper of this amazing place, I once again have an opportunity to relive the wonderful experience when the shot was taken. For me at least, the true scope of this wonder cannot be conveyed in words or even photos, to truly have a chance of understanding, you have be here, standing on the rim soaking in the beauty. Now for this weeks shot, taken in June 2005 while walking the Rim Trail somewhere between Mather Point and the beginning of the trail on Desert View Drive. The Rim Trail is an excellent, easy walking trail which follows the rim for many miles (over six miles of it is paved). At times, you'll find yourself literally walking only a few feet from the rim, most of the time with no rails or barriers to get in the way of this amazing experience! The Grand Canyon offers numerous opportunities for staggering views both from the North and South rims (and you might not believe it, but there is a difference between the two), many miles of trails to hike, a few 4x4 roads to explore, and actually being able to venture down into Grand Canyon itself (from either the North or South rim) makes this an experience where you'll be hard pressed to run out of new possibilities. Without a doubt, this is one everyone needs to visit at least once, so sit down and plan a trip here (it will be be something you'll never forget). (;
