Above is this weeks free desktop. Well, this is one of those rare occasions I get to introduce a new place, here's the first shot featured from Sequoia National Park. There is at least one species which lives longer, one which has a greater diameter, and three that grow taller, but none which is larger. On pure volume, the sequoia is the world's largest tree. This giant only grows naturally on the western slope of the Serria Nevada, and just 75 (or so) groves remain. You can find some at Yosemite, but the largest tree, the General Sherman, is found here. This weeks shot was taken on the Congress trail after viewing the 2,200 year old General Sherman (I couldn't get a good shot of it, you just got to see that one in person) and is just of the trees and mist/fog which moved in on us. Walking the 2 mile trail took on an wierd feeling with mist sometimes coming all the way to the ground. With many trails to walk, and the chance to see these giants up close, this is a park well worth a visit.
