Before getting to this weeks desktop, there's a couple of things I wanted to remind you about.
First, expect the next update to be on time. Second, the previous weeks wallpaper is always still available by clicking the preview to the left found on this page. Enjoy!
Above is this weeks free desktop. Once again, this from a park close to Moab, UT, Canyonlands National Park - Island in the Sky. Two important forces, gravity plus the Colorado River and Green River, helped form this wonderful park. From their actions in the past and their present exsistance, the two rivers actually divide Canyonlands into three sections - the Maze, the Needles and the Island in the Sky. Each of these sections offers a different experience and each is well worth making a visit. The Maze is virtually undeveloped which offers you a true (and very real) wildness opportunity, the Needles takes down into canyons for a close-up adventure, while the Island in the Sky section lives up to its name as you find yourself elevated around 2000 ft above the Colorado and Green Rivers along with the other two sections of the park. The amazing perspective this section provides numerous overlooks that rewards visitors with magnificent views, plus there are plenty of trails to hike, both staying up on the rim and venturing down into numerous canyons. The shot presented here is of Mesa Arch, which can be found on an easy 1/2 mile loop trail. The main photos you've probably seen of this arch have it as a frame, the view through it seems to be much more popular than the arch itself. With an absolutely massive trail system, numberous 4x4 only roads, and two untamed rivers, Canyonlands National Park offers a very real wilderness experience for those who want it, or if you're looking for something much tamer, that's available too (plus any level in between). No matter what level you choose, you're sure to find a truly rewarding and entertaining visit here. Check the links section for more info on Canyonlands National Park.
