Before getting to this weeks desktop, there's a couple of things I wanted to remind you about.
First, expect the next update on the 17th, right on
time. I think I've got a handle on my other sites and can stay on
track with the updates here. (: Second, the previous weeks wallpaper is always still available by clicking the preview to the left found on this page. Enjoy!
Above is this weeks free desktop. This weeks shot takes us
back to one of my favorite places which gets showcased here, from
northern Arizona, back again to the Grand Canyon National Park - North
Rim. I really do enjoy the weeks which feature shots from Grand
Canyon, not simply because it's one of the top parks in America, or that
my experiences here are ones I enjoy remembering while preparing the
photo, but because it give me the opportunity to highlight a wonder I
truly believe everyone should visit at least once. This weeks
photo was taken in May 2007 while hiking the 10 mile (round trip)
Widforss Trail which takes you on a meandering trek over rolling hills
and through a really dense forest while offering several canyon views
along the way to Widfross Point. This shot is of The Transept
which is border on the right by Oza Butte and on the left by Bright
Angel Point, which is where the Grand Canyon lodge is located.
Straight out I believe that is Brahma Temple. It might be hard to
believe since they are only a few miles apart, but the North Rim and the
South Rim offer different experiences from each other, visiting just one
side will not give you the complete picture of the park. And even
though it takes close to a 200 mile drive to visit both, I truly believe
it is well worth it. I also believe it to simply be impossible for
me to convey the grandeur of Grand Canyon with words or photos, the best
any of these could do is entice one to visit and see this park in person
as this place requires you to be standing on the edge, looking out over
this marvel to fully appreciate it. If you want to see one of the
top parks in America, plan a visit to the Grand Canyon NP as it's an
experience you will not soon forget.
