Before getting to this weeks desktop, there's a couple of things I wanted to remind you about. First,
I've really gotten off on the updates after returning from this years
trip West, but I'm working on getting back on track and hope to be there soon. Second, the previous weeks wallpaper is always still available by clicking the preview to the left found on this page. Enjoy!
Above is this weeks free desktop. This week we move back a place I
do truly enjoy showcasing, Grand Canyon National Park, this time around,
featuring the South Rim. Grand Canyon is one of the top parks in
America and I do enjoy when the opportunity to feature a wallpapers of
this amazing place. For me, the true scope of this wonder cannot be
conveyed in words or photos, to truly appreciate the marvel, you have be
here standing on the rim attempting to breathe in the beauty. This
weeks photo is from the Rim Trail about 1/4 mile west of Yavapai Point,
a wonderful overlook for sunsets. This was shot looking west
(surprise!), near sunset back in May 2007. Now there's not much to
point out here, but I can name the feature the sun seems to be setting
behind, it's Maricopa Point around 1.5 miles away. There really
are numerous opportunities for staggering views both from the North and
South rims, and it might be hard to believe, but there is a big
difference between the two. At times, you'll find yourself on a
trail literally within only a few feet of the rim, most of the time with
no rails or barriers, just air between you and this amazing experience!
There are many, many miles of trails to hike and a few 4x4 roads to
explore, plus actually being able to venture down into Grand Canyon
itself (from either the North or South rim) makes this an unbelievable
experience where you'd be hard pressed to run out of new possibilities
for exploration. This is a park everyone needs to visit at least
once, so sit down and plan a trip here (it will be be something you'll
never forget). (;
