Above is this weeks free desktop. And for another first, this weeks wallpaper and the one we offered last week are from the same place, so welcome once again to Yosemite National Park. I'm not going to give my normal lead-in on the park (you just got it last week, if you want to read it click the thumbnail upper left and catch it from last weeks offering (; ), but I will say this area is truly amazing and encompasses one of the finest examples of the America's park system. Well, jumping right to this weeks photo, this was shot in September 2005 on the John Muir trail, here's one of those awesome features found in Yosemite, Nevada Falls. I did want you to note that the waterfalls in Yosemite experience a greatly diminished flow in the Fall as they mainly draw from snow melt (it was tough to believe, but Yosemite Falls just wasn't there, virtually dry). Nevada Falls in the Spring or early Summer would have a much greater flow, as would all the waterfalls. One last point of interest here, the light colored wall of rock on the left of the photo is Liberty Cap (there is a real nice photo of Liberty Cap, Nevada Falls and the side of Half Dome you rarely see coming next year). If look closely in the rocks below the face, you can just make out a zig-zag pattern, these are switchbacks of the Mist Trail, the other wonderful trail which gets you to the top of Nevada Falls. If you were wondering, I recommend doing both trails, they both offer different experiences and it's real easy to do since they basically form a loop. As always, I'd like to say that the most I ever seek with my photos is to give a brief glimpse of the wonders one can see and hope they to spark a desire for you to expand upon this in person. Without any doubt, Yosemite is a fantastic experience, one which could easily consume as much time as you're willing to give it. Like I said last time, I'm in for at least 4 more days in 2006, what about you?
